fly frames.

Sorry I have been MIA due to working my butt off to graduate in the next month (yikes!) Don't worry, the blog is still breathing, I just had to put it to sleep for a little while. And like this blog, trends are known to resurrect. (See piece puzzle: flannel flare.) As an 80's baby, I have to pay tribute to the trends and fashions during that era that were funky, vibrant, and vivacious. 80's hip hop heavyweights Run-DMC were known for not only changing the game in music, but also for breaking barriers in hip hop style, from their unlaced Adidas to DMC's glasses that would make nerds trendy. Now, about twenty years later, music moguls are bringing those geeky glasses back in style. This eye wear may have people scratching their heads, but this accessory was made for the fashion fearless, such as...

Eclectic R n B singer Kelis.

Hip Hop power house Kanye West.

And of course, Rihanna.

Here's me, rockin' em.

Where to buy: Urban Outfitters(where I got mine.), American Apparel

Some might not comprehend why these large lenses would be considered cool or fashionable, but with these glasses, I can definitely foresee these being worn by those who aren't afraid to embrace their inner nerd.
(Because we all have one...)

style snag: rihanna & selita ebanks.

when femininity met masculinity.

Songstress Rihanna is a style icon for being fashionably fearless. Supermodel Selita Ebanksone of the (darker) faces of Victoria Secret, obviously oozes sex appeal (its her job.) Both have mastered being subtly sleek with adding a masculine touch to their identical outfits. A slouch sleeved blazer provides a professional and powerful pizazz to the sexy simplicity of a slinky blouse with a fitted skirt and fierce heels. Though the looks are similar, Rihanna's graphic tee provides a playful edge, while Selita remains effortlessly elegant.

Steal this look for cheap(er)!

I am exploring my own masculine femininity with this crisp bow tie button up I bought from MNG by MANGO (think Zara.)

... very Sarah J if I must say so myself.

puzzle piece: hippie chic

It's a given that fashion repeats itself. The flannel shirt was revived from the 90's era, and now the head wrap piece, rocked in the 70's, is being resurrected by 21st century stylistas.

How to wear: The headband is a tricky accessory, but appropriate for fashion experimentation straying away from conservatism. It's the perfect piece to add some chic excitement to a casual outfit. Wear it straight across the forehead (as pictured above) for the ultimate hipster look, but push it back towards the top of the head for ambiguity.

Where to wear: This accessory is best to wear out and about, a night with the girls, to a lounge or a bar. It also could be worn during the day as well, but I would probably refrain from wearing it in the classroom.

Where to buy: Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, H & M

Celeb Style (take the poll on the top right to vote which celeb rocks the accessory the best!):

puzzle solved.

piece puzzle: leather love.

From top to bottom, this smooth and thick material brings edge to any outfit.

part 1-- leggings.

How to wear: Pair these tight sexy bottoms with an oversized, flowy top for balance. Keep it casual by throwing a cute fitted T. Add on a blazer for a more tailored look.

Where to wear: Preferably, wear these out under the stars. They are perfectly appropriate for a night out to a club or a lounge. If you dare to wear these at day, keep the leggings out of the classroom or business place.

Where to buy: American Apparel, Express, Armani Exchange. (These leggings are sold as faux leather or shiny material that mimics leather, but it all looks equally hot!)

Celeb Style:

Rihanna

Christina Milian

Lauren Conrad

Mary Kate

How I do it:

I have on Black Eel Leggings from American Apparel.

part ii-- jacket.

Where to wear: Technically, since this a jacket, it is permissible to wear anywhere. This is the perfect item to have in the fall season and will do it's job in keeping you warm and stylish.

How to wear: Again, since it's a jacket, there isn't a huge limit to what you can wear this with. This can edge out a clean preppy look or cool down an elegant outfit.

Where to buy: Express, Urban Outfitters

Celeb Style:

Rihanna (of course)

Lauren Conrad:

I have one from Urban Outfitters (it's faux, but good faux!)
